Larry Griggers was sworn in as a member of the City Council of Lyons, Georgia on January 4, 2018 representing Ward 1. He resides with his wife Debbie at 121 Salem Dr. in Lyons.
Born and raised in Lyons, Larry attended Lyons High School and got his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Institute of Technology. He also attended Woodrow Wilson Law School in Atlanta, Georgia.
Larry has experience in both the public and private sector. He started Griggers Computer Systems, Inc. soon after graduation from college and then moved to Locust Grove, Georgia where he went to work for the Georgia Department of Revenue, rising through the ranks to become the Director of the Property Tax Division, a position he held for 15 years. He left state government to found Avtacs, Inc., a company specializing in the mass appraisal of counties whose property tax digest was no longer uniform.
Upon his retirement in 2015, Larry returned to his hometown and settled into a life of volunteerism and public service. He and his wife Debbie are active in the Lyons Lions Club, Tales From the Altamaha, the Lyons First United Methodist Church, the Toombs DeMolay Chapter and several other civic organizations.
